With the exciting 07 season in the books here's how the 6 BCS conferences have fared against the other 5 BCS leagues in the BCS era. Games counted only while teams were in their current conference. That's why the totals don't =.500

.526 (80-72) P10
.511 (93-89) SEC
.503 (94-93) B10
.503 (81-80) B12
.495 (97-99) ACC
.396 (42-64) BEC

Corrections welcomed... Don ?

I'd love to see the SOS regarding these inter-BCS games. UF vs FSU and Miami for example, as opposed to South Carolina playing Temple. SOS goes a long way.

NCT, could you post the same data link for the SEC ? Thanks. I get lost trying to figure out Sportslink.

I'm not sure what you are looking for in the stats. Do you want Miami's games in the Big East to count for the Big East? If not then do you want them counted as ACC? Or, do you just want them dropped because Miami WAS in the BE when they were played but IS now in the ACC so therefore the games shouldn't count either way? Also IF UF played Miami when it was in the Big East does this count as a game for the SEC or do you only count games vs Miami when they were moved into the ACC?

By my count, the problem only affects eight teams: Miami, VT, BC, Louisville, UConn, Cincinnati, USF, and Temple.

here's what I think I want, Don, but I confuse myself alot ;-) :

Inter -BCS conf. games vs Miami, VT etc. while they were BCS era BE teams, count for those teams playing Miami, VT etc. However, Miami , VT, & BC games vs other BCS leagues only count during their membership years in the ACC. Is that crazy or make any sense ?

Thanks NCT. The non ND data is what I want. I'm one win too many for the SEC, so could you please break it down by team or game by game like you did for the B10 ? I'd really appreciate that. Also, sometime during this off season maybe somebody could give me very elemental, step by step instructions on how to use Sportslink, like HYH did in getting that Blue Hen avatar thing near my name.

I screwed up I still have Miami, VT, and BC games as counting in the BE. I forgot to remove those. The others should be ok.

If you want a mini tutorial (from what limited knowledge I have) on the use of the SportsLink network, here goes.

Here is the main link

http://www.sportslinknetwork.com/cfbtrivia/

Then select which type of search you want. I tend to use the teams record search rather than the team search. You can look to see which type of info each will bring up.

Here is the link to the team record search

http://www.sportslinknetwork.com/cfbtrivia/teamrecord.php

Now on this search the screen is divided into two shaded areas; gray and green/yellow(?). The gray box select what restriction you want on the teams/conferences that you want to look at. The green/yellow boxes select waht restriction you want on the OPPONENTS.

For example the data that I pulled up earlieron say the Big Ten games.

First, I selected the Big Ten conference from the drop-down menu on the left. Next, I selected the years 1998-2007 (on the left side in white. Here's the tricky part, I selected IN THE CENTER COLUMN "vs conf" (don't click the "conf" on the left side unless you want all of the data lumped together as one conf. Since you have already clicked Big Ten it is already lumped as one conference - the Big Ten) When you clicked the " vs conf" the games played BY the Big Ten will then be sorted into conferences e.g. vs SEC, vs ACC, etc.) Next, on the left side just above the yellow/green box, you will see "conf/no" and two boxes next to it. Click the RIGHT button to select "non-conference games" unless you want the Big Ten vs Big Ten games included which of course will comes out as 0.5000 as there will alway be the same number of winners and losers in such games. Next move down to the yellow/green box and click the box beside "exclude Ind" so that games vs ND are left out. Then find "majors/Non" and click the LEFT button to select only "major/bcs opponents". Now you are ready to submit the query so hit search.

Now to examine the games just click on "SEC" or "ACC".

This should get you started.

That's sounds intimidating. Can I just pay you to do my research ? Seriously, I've been there numerous times and rarely get what I want, but Don, thanks for the instructions. I'll try.
