I've seen people on here take a few shots at the SEC's OOC scheduling. In reviewing each schedule, it appears as if 11 of the 12 teams play a legit OOC team, some two. I think there are plenty of interesting OOC games involving the SEC:
Tennessee - Cal and Southern Miss
Georgia - Oklahoma St and GaTech
Miss St - West Virginia
LSU - VaTech
Alabama - Florida St
South Carolina - Clemson and UNC
Florida - Florida State
Kentucky - Louisville
Auburn - Kansas St and South Florida
Vanderbilt - Wake Forest
Ole Miss - Mizzou
Arkansas - Only bowl OOC team is Troy.

That's because SEC scheduling, as usual, sucks. This year there are some conferences that are doing even worse, though. Basically, people are catching up with the Big 12 and the SEC in lousy scheduling.

46% of the SEC's non conference opponents are from 1AA and the Sun Belt ( all at home, of course ). Aren't you a little ashamed of that ?
ktffan is right......the other leagues have caught on to the SEC scheduling strategy. In the mythical world of big time CF, programs can custom schedule their way into good W-L records, high rankings, and high paying PSEGs.

I think I agree. The B12 sure is becoming very cowardly in scheduling....47 games vs 1AA in the 2000s.

Becoming? Big 12 scheduling has been in the tank since the conference formed in 1996. Overall they've done worse than even the SEC.

What do you expect schools to do? They need a certain # of home games to meet budgets and only certain schools will visit without expecting a return trip. And their conferences require a certain # of conference games home and away. Not to mention there is no incentive to create harder schedules given the current landscape where one or two losses all but end your MNC hopes.
No, I am not "ashamed." My Gators play as tough a schedule as any program in the country year in and year out. However you want to slice it - # of ranked teams, opponent winning %, bowl opponents, etc...Florida is always near the top. We play programs like Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, and FSU out of conference every single year.

I don't have issues with how schools are scheduling, however this stuff does need to be acknowledged and accounted for when ranking. SEC scheduling has traditionally been weak.
For the record, Florida scheduling has not been weak and should not have to excuse their non-conference schedule. As it is, Florida State might have a monster team this year.
