If you could pick any teams and organize them in any conference with your favorite team, what would it be?

I wouldn't mind seeing a merging of the ACC with more northeast teams

Conference X
Florida State
Miami
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Penn St.
Rutgers
Maryland
Notre Dame
Boston College

The SAC (Student Athlete Conference) would still remain my dream conference. Could you just imagine an entire Bowl Div league in which all the scholarship players were intelligent and could talk ?.....and handle legitimate college courses and majors ?

The SAC

Army
Rice
N'western
Vanderbilt
Navy
Duke
Stanford
Air Force

There WOULD be some good games , no doubt. It would solve several problems. The Big 10 could return to being the Big 10 w/o PSU. It would finally put ND INTO a conference. It would return some old eastern rivalries. However, I'm not sold on Rutgers as an acceptable conference member based on one year of play. I'm hoping Schiano gets it done but would make them a probationary member. Perhaps WVU might be a better fit. They alway played PSU in the past so could rekindle that rivalry. The potential problem of course is having a league with VT but leaving out UVa as well as what to do with the NC schools. Maybe, the NC schools and UVa might be included in Hen's SAC.

actually Don,

UVA is one of those great public universities with steller academic standards......for regular students. UVA's scholarship FB players, collectively, are pretty dumb. Same thing for UNC....but thanks for the suggestion. SAC expansion would be great. Wake Forest would likely be the best nominee among the North Carolina schools.

I guess OSU doesn't bring enough to the table to qualify. It is your list though.

I like the list, but I'd replace WV or Pitt with OSU.

I had a thought this morning that I may have missed OSU from my list. OSU has to be in the list! Ironically, that creates an 11-team conference and Minn and Missouri aren't good enough. I need to keep WVU and Pitt in order to add another stellar rivalry into this dream conference and I can't drop Illinois as Chicago is the center of the Midwest. Maybe we should give travel stipends to Texas to make a solid 12 programs.

Hen, that was my point. They do have stellar academics and therefore would fit into the SAC provided that they held their athletes TO the standards set for the schools. Their football programs DON'T have great histories of stellar performances so dropping them from "football only" conferences wouldn't be that crushing to the fans.

Swap Michigan Tech in for Lake Superior State. Probably need to find a way to get Minnesota-Duluth in there as well - kind of sounds like the old WCHA.

Shouldn't that be...

Swap Michigan Tech in for "Gitchigumi State".
