vcu's going to have its hands full with pitt today. i thought wright state would give pitt a better run for its money, but pitt shot lights outs behind the arc without having to rely on its superior low post players. should be interesting to see if vcu's pressing style of play will give pitt any fits in the back court. wright state got pitt to be sloppy with the basketball in the 1st half by throwing a junk press at them a few times. pitt might be the team that cuts down the nets on this whole deal that nobody is talking about. they're really talented and play good tough nosed d.

Wright State matched up horribly with Pitt. Antonio Graves is one of the best perimeter defenders in a defensive conference. Wood could've scored more, but He wasn't going to go for 30 against Graves.

VCU, hwoever, matched up much better. Pitt always struggled against athletic teams who caused turnovers. VCU is decently athletic, and boy, do they cause Turnovers. It did take 30 minutes of game time for the press to work, but when it did, it worked well.

Now, it's Ben Howland vs Jamie Dixon. Izzo beat Crean and Matta beat Miller. Is the third time the charm for the protege against the mentor?
