NC State 63, Drexel 56 (at Drexel)

The Wolfpack was playing they're 5th game in 6 days, on the road and Drexel still couldn't beat a middle of the road at best, ACC team. Can we finally put that travesty to bed? And since Drexel beat Syracuse, I don't want to hear about how they got screwed, either. In my opinion, the Orange stole a bid for a more deserving team last year so this is payback and to be honest, they didn't do enough to go this year. Instead of crying Boeheim should 'man up' like Bob Huggins and state the obvious...."We should have won more games!!!"

I'm sick of the big mouth Dick Vitale getting on his soap box and preaching about what he believes. I was particularly pi$$ed at how he brought Xavier into the mix as being less deserving...he's an idiot and the day his big mouth gets into the Hall of Fame is the day the Hall of Fame loses one potential sale.

I totally agree.

Yes, arguments can be made for both sides--in or out; they, as well as a few others, can complain about being left out, but an argument can also be made that they should not be in the NCAA tournament.

I say play the cards you're dealt, and stop b*tching about it.

Why do people continually make this argument? Drexel's NIT fate says nothing about their worthiness as an NCAA team. Drexel might just as likely won a first round game in the NCAA tournament and it wouldn't prove they were necessarily more deserving than anyone that would have been left out instead. The fact that you can make a case for so many teams speaks to absurdity of subjectivity. The rules should be such that who gets in is self-evident.

While I agree with your point in premise, it should be noted that NCSU is playing very good basketball right now. Under a new coach, they lost a lot of games early, but as the season progressed they continually improved. And I'm not just saying this because they beat VT 3 times. They also beat UNC at home, and gave them a good run for the tournament championship.

Based on how the teams ended the season, I would easily put NCSU in the top 4 of the conference. And I think they are probably the favorite to win the NIT right now.

Of course bubble teams get bounced early from the NIT (although lack of motivation, not lack of talent might come into play). The point he was making is not that it was a shock they lost, but that its crazy how people stay these bubble teams got screwed by not making the tournament. This, of course, happens every year.

Now watch Stanford, whom I believe have NO business in the tournament, make the Sweet 16.

yeah, i believe lack of motivation plays a big part in the bubble teams getting bounced early from the NIT. it happens every year. i don't know the numbers but it seems that the the last 2-3 teams out (especially mid-majors) get knocked off in the 1st or 2nd round of the NIT since i've followed it the past 15 years or so.

If you are in the mix as to who should be one of the final four teams to get into the tournament, you have no business crying about it if you don't get in. I'm not a Bob Huggins fan but more coaches need to take his approach...WE SHOULD HAVE WON SOME MORE GAMES!!!!! Don't blame the committee because you got 'snubbed'. Take blame yourself because you are the ones who put it in the committees' hands. In addition, if your going to call out the committee, the least you can do is go out and prove you belonged...not lay a big egg in the NIT.

right now, I'd say Florida State is probably the team with the biggest gripe and they surely should have been in over Stanford and several other teams.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Stanford made it in over at least 4 other teams. What did they do to deserve it? They didn't really have any big wins. Their record wasn't any good. So what gives?

And naturally, they laid a big egg in the tourney.

And Duke proved their seeding was ridiculously high. The team limped into the tournament, and the committee says it takes end of season surges (or lapses) into consideration. It's why Air Force is out, but Duke not only gets in, but gets a 6 seed? Absurd. Congrats VCU.
