First, let me say I liked Jared and Sabrina (two of the 4 voted out last night) but the truth is...there are better singers in the competition with similar styles so they really didn't have a legitimate shot at winning, anyway. Antonella should have been dispatched a couple weeks ago - voters were basically voting for her breasts. Sundance? He is better than Sanjaya and a likeable guy but he never did produce a solid performance and it was obvious his nerves were getting the better of him. Had he stayed, he would have been gone in a week or two...could you see him next week singing the songs of Dionne Warwick? Oh my God...Sanjaya will probably nail 'Do you know the way to San Jose'.
Anyway...here's how I see the competition....
Girls
Lakeisha - one of the top two singers but she doesn't come close to passing the 'looks' factor...chubby, parts her teeth in the middle. Jennifer Hudson lost out due to her looks and Lakeisha is homlier than her. Her voice will carry her for a while but in the end she'll fall short of being the idol.
Melinda - She would be the other strongest singer...not exactly beautiful but easier to look at than Lakeisha...I see her going farther than Lakeisha.
Haley - Haley kind of lucked out. She was the better singer of the white females and probably made it based on that. She was in no way better than Sabrina but with 4 solid soulful female singers, one of them was bound to lose out. Anyway, Haley is the second weakest of the girl finalists but she will stick around a little while longer because the African american girls will cancel each other out.
Jordan - I think Jordan has a great shot. She is younger, cute, her father is a former NFL football players and she does have a nice voice. She appears to have tremendous confidence but if she does go out, it will be due to her youth.
Gina - Horrible. She needs to go next week. She has no chance - Sabrina should have stayed over her.
Stephanie - Pretty solid. If she sank like Lakeisha, she'd be the favorite. As it is, I can see her making the top 5.
Guys
Chris S - I've liked him since the auditions. Nice voice, fun personality. He'll stick around a long time.
Brandon - Also like him although the judges haven't been too kind. I'd like to see him really let go because I think he could establish himself as a leader.
Blake - He'll go pretty far - he's a fan favorite as well as a favorite of the judges.
Phil - Has a big voice but can't sing the soft songs - he's gone within the first 4 weeks.
Chris R - He's alright but he can't beat Blake. He could make it to the final 6.
Sanjaya - He's terrible but the fact that AI followed him through the entire audition process built him a solid legion of fans and he could last a few more weeks. His vocals are weak and his stage presence is even worse but he has the vote of all the 13 year old girs and they carry a lot of clout because they're the ones who will sit there for two hours and continually dial Sanjaya's number.
