Between Notre Dame and Nebraska, which one can bounce back the quickest and which one will be the most difficult to get back to an elite status again? I honestly can not come up with a definte answer or plan that would lead me to believe that one will bounce back fastest.

ND, due to the fact that their recruiting has vastly improved and due to the fact that they're essentially invested in Weiss up to their shalaylees (sp???). I know it's kind of hard to see it with the way the season is going, but this program is currently more stable than Nebraska's.

Nebraska geeked when they fired Solich. They let the zenith of the Osbourne era determine the baseline for the program. Not smart.

Now to go from not smart to completely insane, they bring in a guy to install a west coast offense at, Nebraska! Arguably college football's most unique historical power decides to bring in cookie cutter ball. In recent years, no "major" program ran option football like Nebraska. They had the market cornered. They brought in the best of a limited pool of legit talent. So they decide to go west coast?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I know hindsight is 20/20, but I did call this from the get-go.

There are still many more good HS football players that can be swayed by ND's history than Nebraska's.

Easily Nebraska. For several reasons:

Academics are easier at NU than ND. In our modern culture, most top players don't want to be part of the Irish enough to deal with the academics. Nebraska is in a conference, Irish aren't. Irish can promise a chance to win a Nat'l championship ring, nothing else. Nebraska can promise a Big12 title and NC, and have 3 in last 15 years. ND doesn't.

Also, Nebraska is seen by many recruits and high school coaches as being in a slump. They have been very good as recently as 2001. Notre Dame, however, has a reputation that they are in a continuing decline, with good regular season records but getting hit hard in bowls. Although the two programs are not that far apart, in the eyes of recruits they are. Notre Dame has the coach now to recruit, and they'll outrecruit NU in the short-term, but long term with the right coach Nebraska could be the better program and get to a NC sooner.

Nebraska, because I think this season proves why Charlie Weiss was nothng more than an NFL Coordinator and not a head coach.
